Most women are working out wrong. If you want a toned body and fat loss, here are five workouts you can't shy away from:

  1. Strength training. We tend to avoid it, but after age 35 we start to lose lean muscle mass. Lifting is non-negotiable.
  2. Incline walking. 10,000 steps a day is a scam if it's not done with intention. Next time, bump the incline to 15 at a 3.0 speed and watch how quickly fat loss happens.
  3. Pilates. Great for core strength and toned, lean muscle.
  4. HIIT — in moderation. Too much HIIT can spike your cortisol and make fat loss harder.
  5. Cycling. Often better than running because it's lower impact and easier on your joints — which matters more as you shift into perimenopause.
